Computer Information and Ping Program
This program is used to ping websites and other computers on your network. Once an address is entered into the ‘Address to Ping’ combobox, the address is saved. The addresses from the combobox can be deleted by Selecting the address and then clicking the Delete Address PB.
If the Address is a web name, it is translated into it’s IP address and is display in the first line. Oddly enough, some websites have more than one IP address and in these cases the multiple address will be display before the pinging starts. Five pings are sent to get an average of the round trip time. Some, sites and computers won’t answer ping requests. Typically on Windows 10 computers, the OS parameter has to be checked for the system to answer ping requests.
In this example, it shows what happens when the website doesn’t respond to a ping request. The domain name is translated into an IP address and is displayed. But, the site didn’t answer the ping and so a message box is display to this effect.
This screen shows the computer’s retrieved IP information. Here, again, the computer can have more than one IP address. This can happen if the computer has a couple of ethernet adaptors. I have tried to filter the IPv6 IP address, but sometimes they will be display. Typically, an IPv6 Loop-back address starts with fe80… If you see this address it is the same as the IPv4 address of 127.0.0.1 .
